Jim and I work  team information of Technology at Fulton County for few years.     He was very nice guy.   

I worked with Jim for many years. He was a funny caring guy.  When I was first diagnosed with diabetes, he helped me get the hang of my new routine.  One day I had a severe drop in blood sugar. I couldn’t think clearly enough to get a sample to see what my numbers were.  Jim came to my rescue and did it for me. He was that kind of guy.  He will truly be missed.

Auburn football game I ever  attended in Auburn. I had a blast!!!
Jim had  a great sense of humor . He was a great guy!!!

I am so sorry to hear about two family members passing so close together.  Prayers and thoughts are headed your way for the beloved Hallenberg  family!

Jim and I were workmates at Fulton County and our friendship continued into retirement. There were two common threads that we had, college football and The Beatles. We were Beatles freaks and loved talking about them. We went together to see Paul McCartney in 2002. We called each other ‘Scruff’ and he nicknamed our workmate, Diane Raymond, ‘Scruffette’. If you are a Beatles freak, you will get it. 
Then there was college football. I didn’t know much about college football until I married my wife in 1996. She is an Alabama fan and her feelings about Alabama football is the same as Jim’s for Auburn. I started learning about this ‘fan-ism’ when I went to my first tailgate party. Wow! Then Jim christened me into the Auburn/Alabama rivalry. After an Iron Bowl game that Alabama won, I put a stuffed elephant that my wife had given me in Jim’s work area when he wasn’t around. When I came back from lunch that day, that elephant had been torn to pieces from the inside out and spread all around my work space. I learned the hard way that you never rub it in. One day when on his way back from an Auburn game, he stopped by a college sports store and bought my wife an Alabama screen saver, but he did say that every time he touched the bag, he broke out into a wicked rash. He ended all our conversations with, "Tell Mary hello and War Eagle". Jim was such a kind, loving person with a heart bigger than life. We loved Jim and we continue to love him in his absence. The Beatles wrote,”And in the end the love you take is equal to the love you make”. Jim is sure taking a lot of love with him. We will miss him.

I helped Mr. Hallenburg clean out his house when he was moving to Brookhaven a couple of summers ago.  He is one of the kindest men I have met, though he could be prickly he was a truly warm man that cared for others above all else, except Auburn football. I look back fondly on going to the varsity with him and talking sports, our various trips to Costco and just talking around his home. No one had a sharper wit and humor than him, he always knew how to make me laugh. He was a horrible driver and cursed like a sailor but his kindness is unmatched. He helped me develop character and taught me the value of hard work, I am ever grateful to him, he never knew the impact he had on me. The world has lost a great man.

Last Sunday evening was a gift.  I was with my brother Jim.  We sat and exchanged priceless “Dad” stories.  He looked good and had a twinkle in his eye.  He finally said ”I guess I better go to the dining room before they quit serving.” If I had known it was the last time I would see him on this Earth, I would have held on tight and never let him go.  A memory more valuable than gold.
Jim was the most generous and thoughtful person you could ever hope to know, supporting  the Make A Wish Foundation and Clark Howard ‘s Toys for Kids.  Every year we went to Kentucky to the horse races. It wasn’t to bet on the horses, but it was see our cousins.  Jim knew family and making memories were the real deal. 

Jim loved studying American history, world wars,  the civil war and confederate  battlefields. The American Flag was on his door.  He loved, respected and honored our military.  He loved music.  The Beatles, The Who, Yes, Eric Clapton.  I saw them all with him.  But Auburn football took the prize. There was no bigger fan.

Jim had not been well.  He was not big on posting personal business on Facebook; however,  I believe he would tell you as a cautionary tale:  respect the power of the disease.  Diabetes robbed my brother of his leg and functioning kidneys. it weakened his heart.  It took away his ability to work or maintain a home or drive — his independence. No football games, no concerts, no horse racing.  BUT It NEVER took his spirit or sheer determination. I cried when I saw him take 12 steps on his prosthesis.  

2016 found Jim hospitalized on numerous occasions.  I never, ever heard him complain about the hand he was dealt.

Jim you are simply the best.  I would be remiss if I did not say to you one more time “War Eagle.”  I love you dear brother.  

I thank God for the precious miracle of James Arnold Hallenberg, my brother.

I first met Jim when I hired him to work at Fulton County as a Computer Operator.  Over the years I found him to be a quiet and intelligent individual who was kind and considerate to others.  Jim Hallenberg was a good man and he was my friend.  The world is poorer today because he's not with us.  

I will surely miss his advice and company. He was a great mentor for Lemar and myself. We often talk about concerns that would help us in our life style. Lemar is not here to speak so i like to say Lemar became his go to man when he was no longer able to get to his car.
We three love each other very much.

Things l will always remember about Jim.  

The Varsity was one of his favorite places to eat.  
He liked playing Golf at Peachtree golf center, likely because there were no trees to hit. 
 He lived for Auburn football, and ended most conversations with ‘War Eagle’.   
He really liked M&M’s.

James is survived by his stepmother Frances Hallenberg of Dunwoody; siblings Carol James (Walter) of Snellville, Andy Hallenberg (Ellen) of John’s Creek; Bill Hallenberg (Julie) of Birmingham; stepsister Anna Hudgins Searing (Eric) of Suwanee and many nieces and nephews.
