

James Edward (Mac) McCall, born on July 23, 1928 in Madison FL and raised in Perry, FL, died Monday, September 27, 2010. Beloved father, grandfather and devoted husband, he served selflessly and with grace. After high school, he served in the US Navy aboard the USS Valley Forge where he did two world tours. He then graduated from Emory University where he was a member of Kappa Alpha Order and settled in Atlanta where he began a long career as a CPA at Ernst & Ernst, Adair Realty, and Hamilton, Dorsey and Alston. He was a member of Peachtree Presbyterian Church for 37 years where he served as a deacon and a faithful member of the Gene Wilson Sunday School class where he frequently led the Morning Prayer. He was a member of the Downtown Atlanta Lions Club and had a remarkable 40 years of perfect attendance, and he relished meeting fellow Lions from around the world. There he served as President and Secretary and served as President and Treasurer of the Georgia Lions’ Lighthouse for the Blind. He served in innumerable other ways: Little League baseball coach and mentor; PTA Treasurer of the neighborhood association to name a few.
He is survived by his loving and supportive wife of 53 years, Jean, who was always by his side, as well as his daughter and her husband, Julie and Bill Couch and grandchildren, Nick and Courtney of Marietta, and his son and his wife, Jim and Betsy McCall and grandchildren, Erin, Callie, Ryan, Lauren and Mackensie of Marietta. He is also survived by three brothers, Guyton McCall of Atlanta, John McCall of Clinton, MS, and Frank McCall of Seattle, WA and a sister, Mary Love Strum of Jacksonville, FL.
Visitation will be at H.M. Patterson & Son-Arlington Chapel in Sandy Springs on Thursday, September 30th from 6:00-8:00PM. The funeral service will be at Peachtree Presbyterian Church on Friday, October 1st at 11:00AM.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Georgia Lions’ Lighthouse, 1775 Clairmont Rd., Decatur, GA 30033
