She was born Jane Val Chernick on February 14, 1947, in Baldwin, New York to Dr. Sam and Sara Chernick, of blessed memory. She grew up in Oceanside, Long Island, and graduated Magna Cum Laude from the State University of New York in Albany. While there, she met the love of her life and the center of her world, Larry, on a blind date on December 29, 1966.
Jane and Larry were married on June 29, 1969, which began their amazing life of love and adventure. They absolutely lived for each other, and eventually had two sons, Matt and Danny. At the time of her death, Jane was surrounded by these three men, who loved her more than anyone in the world and whom she loved without end.
Jane lived a life of incredible creativity, beauty and adventure. She was a talented artist, an avid gardener and traveled the world with Larry, their family and friends. She loved to immerse herself in the splendor of the world, whether sitting on a beach, sailing all over the world on a cruise ship or visiting many dear friends and relatives all over.
While her art, travels and other activities gave her great joy, nothing made Jane happier than being with her family. Aside from Larry and her sons, she had immense love for Matt’s wife, Amy and Danny’s wife, Shelley. These two couples gave her four beautiful grandchildren, Samantha, Ethan, Ryan and Morgan. These lucky kids grew up with a Nana who showered them with love, laughter and the example of how to live a meaningful life.
In addition to countless friends who loved her and supported her in every possible way, Jane is also survived by her brother, Rabbi Michael Chernick, his wife Miriam and several nephews, nieces and cousins.
Jane’s graveside service will be held at Arlington Memorial Park in Sandy Springs, GA on Sunday, March 1, at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Gynecological Oncology Program at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Weinstein Hospice of Atlanta, or the charity of your choice.
