

Jean Ann Lowry Raymer, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, passed away peacefully on April 3, 2025 at the age of 86 in Atlanta, Georgia, surrounded by the love of her family. She was born on April 13, 1938, in Chester, South Carolina to Kenneth Lowry and Bertha Lee Lowry and grew up in Greenville, South Carolina. She attended Greenville Public Schools through 10th grade, then attending and graduating from St. Catherine’s School in Richmond, Virginia. She spent two years at Hollins College before transferring to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill for her junior and senior years, graduating with a BA degree in 1961. She married Richard E. Raymer in 1962, having been friends since the 3rd grade. They went on to enjoy 63 years in a wonderful marriage.
Jean Ann was an avid reader and wine connoisseur, who traveled the globe enjoying the foods and wines life offered. She was the heart and soul of our family, always offering her loving support and kind words and joyous smiles. She could always turn anyone’s frowns upside down. Jean Ann loved to host family and friends, often preparing extravagant meals, especially during the holidays. She took pride and poured love into every meal she prepared. Jean Ann was also an avid gardener, taking solace in the extraordinary landscapes she created. Her example for seeking to cultivate beauty and share loving hospitality throughout each day of her life always inspired others…from interior design, to floral design, to culinary genius. Her influence and example will continue to inspire and bless those who knew her.
Jean Ann is survived by her husband Richard E. Raymer, their three sons Kenneth E. Raymer, and wife Brenda W. Raymer, Bradley L. Raymer, and wife Karen S. Raymer, Craig A. Raymer, and wife Dawn P. Raymer. She also leaves behind six cherished grandchildren: Ashley L. Raymer, Courtney E. Raymer, Warren R. Raymer, Ashton Grace Raymer, Lydia G. Raymer, and Mason J. Raymer.
Her legacy of love and generosity will live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. Visitation for family and friends will begin at H. M. Patterson & Son Arlington on Monday, April 14 at 1:30pm to 2:30pm, with a service to celebrate her life at 2:30pm in the Chapel. A Private Inurnment will follow at Arlington Cemetery and Mausoleum in Sandy Springs, Georgia.
