Kathleen Belcher Winter, 80, of Douglasville and formerly of Sandy Springs, passed away February 13, 2026. Mrs. Winter was a former member of Sandy Springs United Methodist Church and a retired teacher at Dunwoody High School where she taught Advanced Placement classes. She spent her early life in New England and attended Randolph-Macon Women’s College in Virginia. After college, she went on to Emory University, completing her Master's Degree in Education. She was preceded in death by her parents, Richard Glenn Belcher and Marion (Molly) Magee Belcher and her sister, Linda Belcher Gammons.
Very proud of her Irish heritage, Kathleen was known for her wit, her wisdom, and for her wonderfully winding way of telling a story. There was never a dull moment when Kathi was around, and she befriended people from all backgrounds. Those Irish eyes were always smiling. Along with her many accomplishments as a history teacher and gardener, she became renowned for her cheese grits.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Erin Winter (Alan Wilbert); devoted friend and caregiver, Bridget Akhimien (Debi) and children, Daisy and Angel; beloved niece and nephew; adoring cousins and extended family members far and wide.
