He was born in Thomaston, Georgia, to the late Ernest Raybon and Emily Claudia Matthews. Joe graduated from Robert E. Lee High School in Thomaston and went on to dedicate his life to the trades, working many years in construction and carpentry. He took great pride in his work and was known for his skill, reliability, and strong work ethic.
Joe honorably served his country in the United States Army for seven years during the Vietnam War, a time of service he carried with quiet pride.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara Raybon; his three children; and his two step-sons.
In his free time, Joe enjoyed fishing, playing pool, and tending to his garden. He also found great joy in spending time with his beloved dog, Winkie.
He will be remembered as a funny, hardworking, and generous man who was always willing to lend a helping hand.
Joe leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and craftsmanship that will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
