Mary Evelyn Jared Price passed from this life, November 3, 2014, after experiencing a devastating stroke on October 20. Mary was born June 8, 1932 to the late Gordon Jared and Rilda Copeland Jared, in Lois, Tennessee. Mary was loved and protected by three brothers: Copeland Jared (Cookeville, TN), the late Claudie Ray “Shorty” Jared (Chattanooga, TN), and Edward Jared (Cookeville, TN). Mary attended, and graduated from, Tennessee Technological University. Along the way she met and married her high-school sweetheart, Buford Henry Price, from Lynchburg, Tennessee on March 24, 1953, becoming has partner in life, love, and business for sixty-one years. Eventually she became mother to six: Richard Lee Jackson (Atlanta), Pamela Kay Edwards (Huntsville, AL), Bobbie Jean Demonbreun (Clarkston, GA), Joe Gordon Price (Nashville, TN), Donald Ray Price (Atlanta), and Charles Randall Price (Atlanta). While here with us, Mary was the “glue” that kept the family connected by means of planned gatherings, “recycled” greeting cards, clipped coupons, and a near-constant supply of little, thoughtful gifts. She continually made friends of everyone with whom she interacted, bringing them into an ever-widening circle of connectedness where they were valued and included in family. She loves laughter, telling and hearing stories, and the noise of everyone having a good time – a good thing since there were sixty plus of us when immediate family came together! If ever a woman embodied the heart of “laugh with those who laugh and weep with those who weep,” it was Mary Price. She deeply felt everyone's pain and celebrated their successes. She was always thoughtful, delightful, and, as needed, extremely serious or playful. Her passing leaves a tremendous absence of light that warmed us all – especially the world of her boyfriend, Henry. Mary is survived by her husband, Henry; her brothers, “Cope” and “Ed;” her six children and their spouses, 21 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and friends too numerous to number. In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to Georgia AGAPE, 3094 Mercer University Dr., Atlanta, GA 30341. Her life celebration service will be Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at 11 o’clock at Patterson’s Arlington Chapel. Entombment will follow at Arlington Memorial Park. The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6 to 9 o’clock at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328 (404) 851-9900.
