She attended Boston College School of Nursing, graduating Magna cum Laude in 1977 and attending every 5th year reunion since with her closest college friends. She worked as a pediatric nurse for several years, starting her career first in New Orleans, then in Boston at Tufts Medical Center Floating Hospital for Children, and the Lahey Clinic.
Mary was very athletic and was an avid and graceful skier, enjoying annual trips with Russ and the boys to Colorado and Utah. She was a long-time resident of the East Hampton subdivision in Marietta and participated in many activities there, including playing tennis with her beloved ALTA and USTA teams for over 25 years. She also co-chaired the East Hampton Social Committee.
Mary was a cherished member of her book club, bunco group, and euchre group where she always displayed her competitive, but fun spirit. At BrightPoint, she proofread and mailed thousands of letters from sponsored children around the world to their sponsors.
Mary loved to travel. She, Russ, and their boys traveled the world, attending the Olympic Games in China, the Soccer World Cup in Germany, Wimbledon, many cruises, and visiting over 30 countries. She adored her grandson Marcus and loved going to see him in Colorado. Over the years, Mary also enjoyed many vacations with her extended family at Cape Cod in the summer and skiing in the mountains in New England in the winter.
Mary had a beautiful, outgoing personality, made friends wherever she went, and will be remembered for her blue eyes and bright smile. She was a great listener, always remembered names and details, and made all feel welcome.
