Mary Margaret Morris Payne

Mary Margaret Morris Payne, 83, passed away on September 6, 2014 at Douglasville, GA. She was born on July 16, 1931 in Wyandotte, Michigan to William and Margaret Pritchard Morris. Mary grew up in Wyandotte, Michigan. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1949. After her marriage to William (Bill) Payne in 1949, they moved to St. Petersburg, Florida in 1951. They lived in St Petersburg, Florida for 15 years. After moving to Atlanta, Georgia in 1966, she worked for and retired from Southern Bell Telephone Company after 20+ years of service. Mary was preceded in death by her parents William and Margaret Pritchard Morris. Mary is survived by her loving husband Bill of 65 years. She has 3 children, Brenda and husband David Lowe of Amarillo, Texas; Bradley Payne of Union City, Georgia; William Payne and wife Rhonda of Dallas, Georgia. She has 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. Mary was a devoted wife and mother who loved animals, singing and playing the piano and teaching children in Sunday School and taking care of her family. A memorial service will be held in the Sunrise Chapel at Arlington Memorial Park, 201 Mount Vernon Highway, Sandy Springs, Georgia on Tuesday, September 9th at two o’clock. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Happy Valley Baptist Church in Villa Rica, Georgia.
