Quentin ``Bernie’’ Bierman, a longtime resident of Dunwoody and Norcross and a retired supervisor for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, died Friday at Brighton Gardens of Dunwoody. He was 95. While Mr. Bierman had dined at the White House, he was most at home sitting among friends at the counter of the Hickory House restaurant or cheering on his beloved Cornhuskers with the local chapter of the University of Nebraska Alumni Association. Born in Lawton, Iowa, Mr. Bierman was raised in Hastings, NE. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II. While stationed in Pine Bluff, AR, he fell in love with Frances Jackson, to whom he would be married for 50 years. He was devoted to her, caring for her in their home for 10 years after she had suffered a stroke and other ailments. Into his 90s, Mr. Bierman was involved in his church, Peachtree Presbyterian, where he served as a Stephen Minister for many years. He also was active in Perimeter Adult Learning and Services (PALS) classes and a dining out group. He is survived by his son, Brent, of Alexandria, Va., and a brother, Everett, of Oakton, VA. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to Peachtree Presbyterian Church or the University of Nebraska Foundation. The family will receive friends Tuesday, August 19, 2014 from 6 to 8 o’clock at H.M. Patterson and Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd., NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Graveside services will be Wednesday, August 20, 2014 at 11 o’clock at Arlington Memorial Park.
