After a valiant fight against the dying of the light with cancer, Richard Eric Ellis died peacefully in his home on June 22, 2016. He left the caring arms of his family to the healing hands of his Lord. He was born at Bryan Air Force Base, Texas to Capt. James W. Ellis, who predeceased his son in a plane crash, and to Freida Ferguson Ellis. Survivors are his mother, his brother, Scott W. Ellis of Vancouver, WA, and sister, Kimberly Oliver of Atlanta, and many devoted nephews, niece, cousins and friends. Eric graduated from Tallulah Falls School, studied at Jacksonville University, Florida, and served in the U.S. Marine Corps and grew up in Peachtree Presbyterian Church, sang in the youth choir, and the North Fulton High School Choir, played football at Chastain Park and baseball at Bagley Field. He had his favorite things: Alabama football, The Who music group, and Glengarry, Glen Ross, movie. We have expressed our gratitude to his caregiver, Robin Huntley. Their temperaments were so much alike, they shared many laughs over who was the top dog in the house. Eric’s memorial service will be at 11 am, Tuesday, July 5, 2016, in the Arlington Cemetery Sunrise Chapel, Mt. Vernon Road in Sandy Springs. Eric will be interred alongside his father, his grandparents, Price and Ruth Ferguson and his beloved Aunt Brenda Ferguson Babb.
