It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved father, grandfather, and husband, Robert Paul Goldstein on Monday, March 23, 2026. “Bobby G” as he was known, always hoped to be remembered as a good guy with a big heart, and to those who knew him, he was exactly that.
Bobby was born on September 11, 1937, in Baltimore, Maryland, to Albert and Eunice Goldstein. At age 10, his family relocated to Houston, Texas, where he spent his formative years. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School with a degree in Finance and Commerce. Bobby was a member of Zeta Beta Tau, where he formed lifelong friendships that remained deeply meaningful throughout his life.
Bobby met the love of his life, Elaine “Lainy” Goldstein, at the Standard Club in Atlanta. They married in 1959 and shared 64 magical years until her passing in 2024. Bobby built a long and successful career in the commercial printing industry, where he was greatly admired by all those who worked for and with him. But was best known for his huge bear hugs and phenomenal sense of humor. Bobby dressed to impress and was honored to be named as one of the top 10 “Best Dressed Men in Atlanta”.
Having lived with Type 1 Diabetes for most of his life, Bobby became an “ambassador” of sorts, mentoring newly diagnosed children and their families on how to live with the disease. Part of Bobby’s legacy is his contribution in the establishment of Camp Kudzu, a camp for children living with Type 1 Diabetes. Bobby spent his energy fundraising and, also volunteering at the camp each summer for many years. He devoted himself to causes close to his heart, like Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) and Camp Kudzu.
Known for his huge smile that could light up a room, his warmth, his humor, and his signature bear hugs, Bobby had a gift for making people feel seen and loved. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
Above all, Bobby cherished his family and being a grandfather most of all. He is survived by his children, Bobby Jr. (Amanda) and Nancy Parker (Jimmy); his grandchildren, Josh (Brittany), Brett, Aaron, Stephen, Matthew, Micah, and Madeline. All of the grandchildren loved their “Dannels” dearly. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Lainy, and his son, Marc, of blessed memory. We want to give special appreciation to his loyal caregivers, Lily and Hannah, who were unwavering in their care for him.
The funeral will be held graveside at Arlington Memorial Park on Wednesday, March 25th at 1 PM, followed by Minyan and Shiva at the home of Bobby & Amanda Goldstein, immediately following the service until 8 PM. The family will also have a visitation on Thursday, March 26th, including Minyan and Shiva from 4 PM – 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to JDRF, Camp Kudzu, The Temple, or Temple Emanu-El.
