Robert C. Wheat, 65, passed away unexpectedly on January 10, 2024, in Atlanta, Georgia. Rob was born on November 11, 1958 to Henry Axtell and Virginia Kidd Wheat in Manhasset, New York. He attended Horseheads High School in New York and graduated from North Springs High School in Georgia. Rob received his Bachelor of Science in Business Management from University of Phoenix in 2007.
From basketball in high school, to snow and water skiing and especially golf, Rob was a heck of an athlete. He loved and knew a tremendous amount about music…especially 70’s, 80’s and Country. Rob began his early career in the hospitality industry and later spent time working in golf course operations.
Rob loved his family. He loved spending time with his niece and nephew growing up, and they loved his playful spirit and doting attention. His great-niece and great-nephews adored playing with him when he came to visit, and his love for them filled the room. Rob loved to reminisce and tell funny stories and tales at family gatherings. His laugh was infectious. He loved animals and had several dogs that he treated with much love and devotion.
Rob was a sweet man. He would help anyone in need, even when he didn’t have it to give. He will be remembered as a loyal, kind & generous brother, uncle and friend.
Rob was preceded in death by his father Henry Axtell Wheat and his mother Virginia Kidd Wheat. He is survived by his sister Cindy Clem, brother Greg Wheat (Tina), his niece Meagan Martz (Ryan), nephew Ryan Clem (Katie), and great-niece and nephews Caroline Clem, Henry and Julian Martz.
Please join us on Saturday, July 27th from 2-3:30 pm for a gathering of friends and family in celebration of Rob's life, as we share our stories and memories
