Susanne Reiss

Susanne Marguerite Robinson Reiss was the most caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She left this world on July 31, 2022 at the young age of 73 with her loving family by her side. She was born on November 26, 1948 to Richard and Doris Robinson and younger sister to Jane. After graduating from high school, Susanne attended American University in Washington D.C. where she majored in elementary education and minored in psychology. After graduation, Susanne went on to teach elementary school children with special needs. At the age of 18, she met the love of her life, William Reiss. Together, they built the most beautiful family. First by raising their adored children, Jonathan and Stephanie. Later in life their family grew with Jonathan’s and Stephanie’s respective spouse and partner, Wendy Reingold and Shannon Van Wyck. The birth of their four loving grandchildren, Ryan, Maya, Sydney and Skyler completed the picture and brought Susanne so much joy and pride. Susanne is a warrior who battled Multiple Sclerosis for over 50 years. She enjoyed her life, loved her family completely, and is an inspiration to anyone who was lucky enough to meet her. Even in hard times, Susanne always put others first. No matter the day or the challenge, Susanne was on the sidelines or in the bleachers cheering her children and grandchildren on at every game. Susanne did hard things every day with total optimism. Her amazing spirit would always lift the atmosphere in the room. Susanne was beautiful, inside and out. She had the kindest heart and will be missed by so many. Susanne’s life will be celebrated by her family and friends today and every day moving forward. She will be in our hearts forever and our model for strength and fortitude.
