Susanne Nichols Van Scyoc

Susanne Nichols Van Scyoc, age 55 of Marietta, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, April 6, 2011. Susanne’s life was a life filled with love and compassion for others --- especially for her parents, husband and son. Susanne’s home was always open to friends and family. and she always made it a point to look for the best qualities within people. Susanne graduated with a nursing degree in 1982 from the Erlanger School of Nursing in Chattanooga, TN. Susanne’s thirty-year career as a nurse was primarily focused on the care of infants and young children, including working in pediatric ICU, as well as the counseling of autistic and sexual abused preschoolers. Susanne is survived by her mother Bettye Nichols of Chattanooga, TN, son Justin L. Van Scyoc, and husband Jerold L. Van Scyoc of Marietta, many cousins, along with the hundreds of children and young adults who as infants and children benefited from Susanne’s care, guidance, and counseling. The Van Scyoc family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, April 8th, from 6pm-8pm at H.M. Patterson & Son, Arlington Chapel, 173 Allen Rd, NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328. Funeral services will be conducted by Rev. Vicki Franch at 3pm on Saturday, April 9th, in the Kellett Chapel of the Peachtree Presbyterian Church, 3434 Roswell Rd, NW, Atlanta, GA 30305. Susanne will be laid to rest on Sunday at1 pm CST at Glenwood Cemetery in Ft. Payne, Alabama.
