

Thomas was born October 19th, 1943 in Brooklyn, NY to Bernard and Marion(Breen) Gilligan. He graduated from St. Augustine’s Diocesan High School in 1961 in Brooklyn, NY and subsequently entered the Air Force serving as an Air Traffic Controller in Japan and Germany. After completing 5 years of honorable service to the country, he entered St. Vincent’s college in Latrobe, Pennsylvania where he graduated in 1971 with a Finance degree. Later that year he met his wife, Eileen, and they were married in 1973. After a short time working on Wall Street, he and Eileen then moved to Atlanta to begin his career in banking. He retired from banking in 1999 and took the position of Chief Operating Officer at NAI Brannen and Goddard Commercial Real Estate. In 2013, Thomas retired and began his next adventure as a Grandfather. He enjoyed traveling, beach vacations and taking cruises to various countries around the world.
Thomas is survived by his loving wife, Eileen, two sons, Christopher and Sean, his daughter, Jennifer Morris, son in law Brandon Morris and granddaughter Rebecca. He is preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Marion Gilligan.
A celebration of life will be held from 5-7 pm, Sunday, May 1st at H.M. Patterson & Son Arlington Chapel; 173 Allen Rd NE, Sandy Springs, GA 30328 with a prayer service commencing at 7 pm. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Monday, May 2nd at The Catholic Church of St. Ann; 4905 Roswell Rd, Marietta, GA 30062. A private family service will be held at Georgia National Cemetery with military honors.
