Wayne Shirey, a giant amongst men. We met at a crowded venue; I was staring through the screen. Wayne asked if the seat to my right was open. I said yes looking up, he sat down. I don’t remember what we talked about for the next couple of hours but we became friends that evening. Wayne was a gentleman. He had a way with words, and we covered a lot of ground it such little time. He would talk very fondly of his daughters and cherished his background image of the one in college. I enjoyed his great insight on business and life. Wayne often said two people meet for a reason. Either I change his life, he changes mine, or we change each other’s. Well, Wayne - you certainly had a profound impact on my life. Like an Angel sent from God. Your kindness and humility shined bright. Thank you for sharing your abundant wisdom with me. You taught me to think big and be humble. The hours we spent at the bar were a blessing. I wish we had more time to share but I’m thankful for the memories. May your soul Rest In Peace. Your words continue to live through me.

I worked with Mark and met Wayne back in the 80s. I am saddened by his passing too soon. Please accept my prayers and sincere condolences for your loss.

My sincere and heartfelt condolences to the Shirey family... I knew Wayne well as a good friend at the start of high school at North Spring... I lived on River Springs Ct. - which was one street over from his house where I’d hang out with Wayne and others (Brad and Johnny Haddad, Jim Green, etc.)... Those were some good times... Wayne and his family invited me to go fishing with them on one occasion... Don’t recall if I caught anything, but his mother made the best hushpuppies... Wayne will be greatly missed by many, including myself.

As a member of the Villas at Castleberry, Wayne was a relatively new member of the community. I enjoyed talking with him as I did my routine walks in the neighborhood  He loved to talking about his daughters, Montana and of course, his red Ford truck. He will be missed.

Sending sincere sympathy to Wayne’s family.  Although he was a member of our neighborhood Villas at Castleberry Township we were only able to speak a few times and wish it could have been more. 

Wayne was a GIANT of a man in every important aspect of one’s life...faith, family and life in general. He was many things to a lot of people but to me he was genuine, consistent, gracious, generous and always entertaining. I will be forever grateful to have been his friend. Wayne will be sorely missed but I rejoice knowing he is with our Savior for eternity. May the Lord bless you Wayne and reward you with many crowns. 

One could never forget the Shirley men for their handsome looks and always having to look up to them ! Wayne’s smile could light up a room anywhere . He will forever be etched in our minds and hearts . My deepest sympathy goes out to each and everyone if you . Praying that you will find comfort in remembering Wayne is with the angels now  and will always be watching over you . He’s just a cloud away ....

I worked with Wayne for more than 26 years at United Tool . He was like a second dad to me.  It won’t be the same with him. He will be greatly missed.

The measure of a Man I always thought he was immortal standing 8 foot tall..... I considered Wayne a 2nd Father to me and i always will and the girls, sister's and Joe of course a brother.  I have way to many stories to tell and it wont fit.  My earliest was just the sound of that snake skin belt clearing those belt loops..... i still to this day swear that belt was 20 foot long. I Would still start running if i heard it today.  My latest was Wayne trying a new restaurant the Japanese hibachi steakhouse i still remember his eyes looking and laughing at the cook as he spun his spatula around.  Words cannot express how i feel for this man and his family.  God speed Wayne Shirey and i promise i will always keep "2 TO GO and 1 TO SHOW"

We had such wonderful times with Wayne and his family, he was a gracious person and much loved! We will always remember him fondly!!

Our two families were friends from Marietta to  Montana. Wayne was the most generous person I’ve ever met, especially when all our kids were involved.  He was one-of-a- kind; a unique and gentle giant. Truly a man without guile.

We all have our “Wayne” experiences and stories, and the stories would fill a book. But the lasting thought for me about Wayne is his love for his family and the Lord and his desire that everyone know about it. 

We love you and we’ll miss you Wayne, and we’ll see you again some day across the river.

Ask.com says we will all meet 10,000 people in our lives.  Less than a third of those will we become friends with.  Less than 10 of those will we become close friends with.  Maybe only a very few will we become very close friends with.  Wayne was my very close friend.  But I'll bet the farm, all of you can claim Wayne as a very close friend.  Wayne was that way with everyone.  I was also fortunate to becomes close friends with all of you.  It is sad to learn of Wayne's passing, but joyful to know he is with Christ, Joe, and Wayne's dad. What a great mentor he has been to our family. We truly will miss his BIG presence in our lives as he is the reason for our family’s many blessings - in business especially but also on a deep personal level. His wisdom and guidance will never be forgotten and we will never take for granted the power of our maker. Our love to his family and many friends who will miss him dearly as well.
