Mr. Smith was born on March 22, 1944 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to the late Charles Raymond and Dorothy May Frank. He was a graduate of Ridley Township High School, the Academy of Aeronautics of New York, and Wilmington University in Delaware. He served his country in the United States Navy where he was designated a Naval Aviator in October of 1967. He served in the Navy until his retirement with twenty-two years of service. Following his retirement, he continued to serve in commercial aviation for thirty years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Linda Smith; sons, Brian Charles Smith, Jr and his wife Kathryn (nèe Pope) and Thomas Matthew Smith and his wife Danielle (nèe Bonnette), and eight grandchildren.
A graveside service with military honors will be scheduled at Barrancas National Cemetery in Pensacola, Florida under the direction of Baldwin Fairchild Funeral Home, 5000 CR 46A, Sanford, FL 32771.
