Carem Gager

Carem Gager, 84, of Sanford, Florida passed away peacefully with family by his side on April 10, 2016. He was born in Kearney, Nebraska to Elias and Mary Gager, immigrants who came to America from Lebanon. At age 12, Carem and his family moved from Kearney to Miami, Florida. Upon graduation from high school, he received his undergraduate degree from the University of Miami and later earned a master’s degree from Rollins College. He served honorably in the U.S. Army completing his service while stationed in Japan. Carem married his sweetheart Juanita in 1956 to whom he has been happily married for almost 60 years. Carem spent over 30 years as an educator in Seminole County as both a teacher and principal. He taught math and history during his teaching career and served as the administrator of Sanford Christian School, Pinecrest Elementary, Hamilton Elementary and Longwood Elementary schools. He truly enjoyed his work and felt blessed in his vocation. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and delighted in his grandchildren’s accomplishments. Most important to Carem was his faith in Jesus Christ. He lived his faith out in service to his family, community and through his local church, Gracepointe Church of the Nazarene. He most recently served as leader of the senior adult Sunday School class. He has assisted the local prison ministry grading papers for inmates and has served extensively on the board of the local Salvation Army. Carem was a blessing to many during his time on earth and will be missed greatly. Carem is survived by his wife Juanita and three children. Wayne Gager (Sanford), Cindy Wyland (Sanford) and Shane Gager (Tallahassee), their spouses and 9 wonderful grandchildren. He is also survived by two brothers and two sisters. The family has planned a time of Visitation for Saturday, April 16, 2016 starting at 10:00 am at Westview Baptist Church, 4100 H.E. Thomas Parkway in Sanford FL. A funeral service will follow at 11:00 am with committal at Oaklawn Cemetery in Sanford FL.
