Donna was born in England and raised in the Philadelphia area for several years before her family moved to Central Florida. She attended Lyman High School and held a job at the time working behind the counter at McDonald’s. It was there that she met the love her life, a young volunteer firefighter for the City of Longwood.
They were inseparable from there and went on to marry, spending the next 45 years creating a beautiful life, full of love, family, friends, and unforgettable memories. She made a name for herself in the Central Florida Mortgage industry, in a career that spanned over 40 years, where she forged lifelong relationships, both professionally and personally. She had an incredible work ethic that gained her the respect of many, and her way with words captivated everyone she spoke with. She loved vacations, celebrations, and most knew her as the “Life of the Party”. Above all, she loved her husband, girls, and two grandchildren more than anything in the world.
Donna is survived by her husband Alan, daughters Amy Brown and Jennifer (Dave) Braucksieker, grandchildren Jackson and Aubrey Braucksieker, her mother Joyce Gilley, brothers David (Laurie) Rickards and Paul (Patty) Rickards, sisters Lisa (Greg) Gordee and Christian Rickards, stepmother Mary Rose Rickards, aunt Jan Dungan, nephews Brian (Kelly) Rickards, Andrew Rickards, Ben (Shantel) Rivera, Michael (Olga) Rivera, and Jake Rickards, nieces Alexis Rickards and Sarah Rickards, brothers-in-law David (Vicki) Brown and Jody (Pam) Brown, and sister-in-law Julie (David) Myers, as well as cousins and extended family around the world. She was preceded in death by her father Kenneth Rickards, brother John Rickards, father-in-law Don Brown and mother-in-law Francis Lord.
In lieu of flowers, please donate in Donna’s name to Hospice of the Comforter, as they honored her in her last moments and allowed her to pass peacefully with grace.
