Evelyn Belle Serraes

Serraes, Evelyn – Our beloved Evelyn passed to Our Lord on Sunday, February 5, 2017, at the age of 82 with her family at her side. She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Alex J. Serraes, and her 3 daughters, Rebecca Byron, Eileen Vieira, Cynthia Cunningham, and 2 sons, Joseph Serraes and John Jeffrey Serraes, her 13 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren and her brother, Charles Sellner. Evelyn was predeceased by her parents George and Ida Sellner, and her siblings Robert, Catherine, Florence, Helen, Louis and Milton. Evelyn was born and raised in Suitland, MD, moving to West Palm Beach, FL as a teenager where she later met and married Alex. They moved with their children to Sanford, FL in the summer of 1966. After raising her children, Evelyn completed her Master's Degree and dedicated her years as an accomplished teacher in Elementary Education serving Seminole County. She was admired and loved by her fellow teachers and many students at Goldsboro Elementary Magnet School. Evelyn had many hobbies, but mostly loved to spend her spare time reading, bowling, crafting her ceramics and crocheting, and traveling with her husband to their happy place in Banner Elk, NC. Evelyn enjoyed music and dancing, especially occasional romantic dances with her husband. Evelyn is dancing with our Lord now. May she rest in peace knowing she was dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her family and friends. A funeral Mass will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017, at 10:00am at Annunciation Catholic Church, 1020 Montgomery Road, Altamonte Springs, FL. Reception immediately following at the Church's Nazareth Center. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Evelyn's memory to the Society of St. Vincent De Paul, in care of Annunciation Catholic Church. Arrangements are being handled by Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel, Sanford FL.
