He graduated from Edgewater High School in Orlando, Florida and received a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Central Florida.
Jerry spent most of his career working in the hotel and hospitality business, spending many years as a hotel manager and retiring as a sales manager for a hotel and tourist magazine.
Jerry lived for his family. He was the proud father of three children, Shannon Michelle Cartledge, James Bryan Cartledge, and Chad Creighton Cartledge. He had five grandchildren, Ceara Scheidt, Joshua Beccue, Zechariah Cartledge, Chloe Cartledge and preceded in death by Conner Cartledge. He had two great-grandchildren, Jayla Scheidt and Adalynn Beccue. He had three siblings, Bernice Mason, Michael Paul Cartledge, and preceded in death by Martha Serr. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Creighton Cartledge and Helen Cartledge.
More than anything, Jerry enjoyed being around his children and grandchildren. He got his joy by attending various shows, mission related events, family gatherings, and spending quality time with his kids.
Jerry was also a strong man of faith. A firm believer of Jesus Christ, he loved sharing the gospel with friends, family, and neighbors, and he had a deep relationship with the Lord. One of his final requests was that all the people in life that he loved accept Jesus as their own personal savior so that he would one day see them again in Heaven.
Lastly, Jerry was a strong supporter of his Grandson Zechariah’s non-profit, Running 4 Heroes. His request is that donations be made to this non-profit organization in lieu of flowers.
Jerry’s celebration of life service will be held on Saturday, September 13th, 2025, at 11:00 AM at Oviedo City Church, 300 W State Rd 434, Oviedo, Florida 32765. Mr. Cartledge will be laid to rest in Oaklawn Park Cemetery in Lake Mary following the funeral service.
