Olrick S. Pierce peacefully passed away at the age of 92 on December 29, 2023, in Orlando, Florida. Born in Kingston, Jamaica, to Ruby Josephs and Solomon Pierce, he was preceded in death by his siblings Herman Pierce and Lena Green.
Olrick's formative years were spent in Franklyn Town, where he attended Central Branch and Kingston Technical schools. His career path led him to the construction industry in Jamaica, where he successfully managed projects for various north coast resorts, portions of the Kingston wharf, multi-story commercial buildings in Kingston and surrounding areas, and diverse housing communities. Notably, he took great pride in his role as a Project Manager with Pan Jamaica Investment Trust. Upon relocating to Orlando, Florida, in 1983, he obtained his Contractors license and continued to contribute to the construction industry.
Among his numerous personal achievements, Olrick considered his family to be the most significant. He measured success not only by life's highlights but also by the pride he felt in the accomplishments, whether big or small, of his six children and six grandchildren. Family was at the core of his happiness, and he relished spending time with loved ones, from annual beach vacations in the early years to active participation in various family events. Olrick found immense joy in attending his children's and grandchildren's sporting events, leaving a legacy of love and loyalty.
A social butterfly at heart, Olrick enjoyed connecting with friends over games of dominoes, and his passion for sports, including football, cricket, horse racing, boxing, and track and field, was evident in his enthusiastic participation. Music and dancing held a special place in his heart.
He is survived by his children and their spouses: Andrew Pierce (Titanya), Jacqueline Chin (Carlton), Rory Pierce, Suzanne Pierce, Phillip Pierce (Tracy), and Ian Pierce. Additionally, he leaves behind his cherished grandchildren: Matthew Chin, Sarah Rose (Daniel), Zachary Pierce, Lauren Chin, Melissa Pierce, and Jordanna Pierce. Olrick will be profoundly missed, and his memory will forever be cherished by those whose lives he touched.
The family will receive friends from 10:00-10:30 am on Friday, January 5, 2024 at Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel, 5000 County Road 46A, Sanford, FL 32771. The funeral service will commence at 10:30 followed by a repast at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes either floral tributes or donations to the Parkinson Association of Central Florida in Olrick's name. Thank you for your support during this difficult time.
