Patricia "Pat" Blake

Patricia “Pat” (Sweeney) Blake, 83, of Lake Mary, FL passed away on Monday, September 8, 2025. Pat, the daughter of Howard A. and Naomi L. Sweeney was born in Pittsburgh, PA. Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Teathian “Sonny” Blake, after sharing 46 years of marriage together.

We remember Pat — a cherished member of the Lake Mary community, a devoted family member, and a friend whose warmth touched all who knew her. Born with an adventurous spirit and an unwavering commitment to those around her, Pat’s life was a tapestry woven with dedication, generosity, and joy.

Pat’s journey began at Elizabeth Seton High School, where she laid the foundation for a remarkable 30-year career at AT&T. Alongside Sonny, her beloved partner and constant companion, she embraced new opportunities that carried them across the country—from the bustling neighborhoods of New Jersey and Kansas city to the welcoming communities of Atlanta, Georgia, before finding their true home in Lake Mary, Florida.

Pat approached both work and life with determination and heart. Together with Sonny, she ventured into entrepreneurship, running a grocery convenience store in Roswell, Georgia, and later managing the food and beverage operations at Timacuan Golf and Country Club. These businesses became extensions of her hospitality and kindness, places where neighbors became friends and friendships blossomed into lasting bonds.

A pillar of the Lake Mary community, Pat’s legacy of service includes serving as the President of the Trailblazers for many years, organizing 5Ks and other events to raise funds for community projects, like the last final four miles of the Cross Seminole Trail and the Lake Mary Splash Park and contributing her energy to the Lake Mary Women’s Club. Her vision and passion for the city’s future were celebrated in 2023 when she was honored with the inaugural Lake Mary Life-time Achievement Award—an enduring testament to her zeal in uplifting her community.

Beyond her professional and civic life, Pat was the heart of her family—a loyal sister, a loving aunt, a caring stepmother and grandmother, and a steadfast friend. She enjoyed life to the fullest – from theater, Bunco, book club, the beach and cruises to cheering on the Steelers or having drinks and dinner with friends and family – bringing joy and laughter to everyone around her. She created cherished memories at her lake house and during the holidays for family and friends. Pat lived fully and fearlessly, inspiring those around her to do the same.

Pat will be deeply missed by her sister, Norma (Robert) Langol; her brother, Thomas (Maureen) Sweeney; her sister-in-law, Gerri Sweeney; her nieces and nephews: Robert (Deborah) Langol; Patricia (Jim) O’Malley; John (Stephanie) Langol; Colleen (Micheal) Bracken; Douglas (Stephanie) Sweeney; Tara (Tristan) Funk; Sean (Rebecca) Sweeney; Marley (Jeff) Rave, her stepchildren: Rick (Ann) Blake; Curtis (Phyllis) Blake; Jeffery (Teresa) Blake; and Lisa (Terry) Rhodes; as well as numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-nieces/nephews, godchildren and hundreds of friends. She was predeceased by her brother John Sweeney, beloved niece Diana Langol, and her grandson David Blake.

The funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Monday, September 15, 2025 at All Souls Catholic Church, 3280 W 1st St, Sanford, FL 32771. A Celebration of Life will be held in her honor in early October.

A Celebration of Life in Pat’s honor on October 5, 2025. The event will take place at the Lake Mary Events Center from 1 to 4pm.

In honoring Pat’s memory, the family invites memorial donations (in lieu of flowers) to be made to one of the following charities, continuing her legacy of kindness and service for generations to come.
