Craig Culberson of Lake Mary, Florida passed away on Sunday, February 11, 2018. Craig was born in Louisville, KY on August 21, 1955. He was survived by his wife of 33 years Gilda Monosa Culberson, his daughter Adriane Rivera, son-in-law Noel Rivera, grandchildren Olivia and Ronan, his son Don Culberson, his step-son Jerry Stricklen, daughter-in-law Aimee Stricklen, grandson Cameron, brothers Steve and Frank Culberson and his mother Mary Culberson.
He was an avid music lover, a talented guitar and fiddle player and a tireless connoisseur of bluegrass and country tunes. Craig worked as a software engineer for over 35 years. He was very dedicated to his projects and his co-workers through the years. Working for Leidos (SAIC) for the last twelve years, Northrup Grumann, Litton PRC, AAA and Travelers/EBS he served as designer, developer, database engineer, manager and saw many changes in the data processing industry. His proudest accomplishment was his Masters Certificate in 2012.
Craig was committed to life-long learning and helping others fulfill their potential. As an Air Force serviceman during the Vietnam era, Craig was proud to serve and appreciated the men and women who serve and have served this great country. He was a member Chapter #30 of the DAV and served in various positions on their Board of Directors. Craig's son-in-law SSGT Noel Rivera is currently serving in the Air Force and his father, Dr. Don Culberson, was a retired Navy pilot serving in WWII.
Craig will be best remembered for his willingness to listen without judgment, his dedication to his craft, his ability to persevere, his brilliant mind and commitment to get the job done (can't was not an option) and above all supporting his family. His dedication to helping others took precedence over taking time for himself. Our time with Craig was too short, the world was made a better place because of Craig. We will be lost without him but know he will be there to help us find our way.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 4:00pm at the Baldwin-Fairchild Oaklawn Chapel in Sanford, Florida.
