Richard worked for Lockheed Martin for his entire career (very rare these days) as a Computer Data Systems Engineer. Upon retiring, Richard was on the Homeowners’ Association Boards for both Sweetwater Oaks and Wekiva Villas on the Green. He attended many Homeowners' Association Board Meetings giving back to his community effortlessly as a volunteer. In April, 2014 – his mother came to live with the family as she was in poor health. Richard was a wonderful son and took great care of his mother until she passed in May of 2015. Richard was an excellent cook and loved to go grocery shopping for his culinary efforts. He was a master mechanic and could fix almost anything on a car or for the house – mostly because he refused to pay anyone else to fix what he knew he could! Richard is predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his loving wife Pat Schumacher, his two daughters Bobbi Schumacher and Robin Schumacher, his sister Elaine (David) Kreutzer, nieces and nephews, great nieces and great nephews and many other family members. Richard was always helping people – he was the person that God speaks about as “God loving a cheerful giver.” He is remembered for being most kind and compassionate to all he met and especially to his wife and daughters.
