An adoring husband, father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend, Roger’s life was one of love, adventure, laughter, strength,
compassion, generosity, integrity and an unwavering devotion to his family and friends.
Born on January 13, 1948, in Pikeville, Kentucky, Roger was the older of two children and graduated from Pikeville High School in
1966. He went on to the University of Kentucky where he graduated from UK College of Dentistry in 1973 and then served 2 years as 2nd Lieutenant in the US Navy Dental Corps. He settled in Sanford with his wife and 3 children and started his 41-year dental practice in 1975.
He was a long-time member of the Rotary Club, a member of the American Dental Association and Orange County Dental Association, a 32nd Degree Mason and involved in many other
service and charitable organizations.
Roger enjoyed traveling the world, RVing across the country, playing cards, watching his grandchildren play sports and most of all
spending time with his family and friends.
Roger is survived by his wife of 55 years Gayle Wright Stewart, his children Shanan Stewart Shriber (Steve, husband), Marcus Shayne
Stewart (Krista, wife), and Christopher Shawn Stewart (Amy, wife), his mother Gloria Burke, his sister Beverly Huffman, his grandchildren Zachary, Lucas, Jamison and Sofia and his dear
nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his stepfather Walter Burke. He was a man who lived life to the fullest, had an infectious smile,
found joy in the simple things and never met a stranger. Roger leaves behind a legacy of love and kindness and left the world better than he found it.
A Celebration of Roger's life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers please consider donating to Tunnel to Towers Foundation or Smile Train Charity.
