Sam Ralph Boone Jr.

Sam was born January 5, 1954, in Portsmouth, VA to Sam Boone Sr. and Amma Pearl Burns Boone. He had one sister, Barbara McGinn. At an early age it was clear he had a mind for numbers. When he was a young boy, the church would read out loud the annual mission pledges and Sam would add the donations in his head and tell his mom what the total would be before they announced it.

Sam attended the University of Maryland and obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting.

Sam moved to Florida to be closer to his parents and sister in the mid 1980’s. He briefly worked for OrmondRe in Ormond Beach. On February 2, 1987, he was hired by Brown & Brown Insurance as their auditor. In 1988 he was promoted to the Profit Center Leader of USIS (service division office of Brown & Brown) and in 2009 was promoted to Regional Vice President of the Service Division where he served until his retirement on December 31, 2022.

Sam and Kim met at work. After encouragement from co-workers, they began dating and were married May 31, 2004. They were blessed to enjoy 21 beautiful years together. While Sam had no biological children, it was clear he considered his stepchildren his own and they felt the same. Sam (Pawpaw) and Kim (Gigi) have six grandchildren. It was his greatest role, and he embraced it. There were pawpaw Thursdays/Fridays. Trips to Wawa for after school snacks, tea parties, throwing the football and so much more. He took every opportunity to be with them, to encourage them, to lead them.

Sam loved the Lord and had a servant’s heart with his family and his church. He served as a Trustee and on the Personnel Committee for The First Baptist Church of Orlando. He served as a Dream Team member at The Masters Academy where his grandchildren attended.

Sam loved to golf and always looked forward to his golf trips with his buddies. He had three holes in one throughout the years he played.

Sam is survived by his wife Kim, their children Jessica (Lawrence), Octavio (Alti), Natalie (Michael), their grandchildren, Emma, Lennex, Zoe, Georgie, Olivia, Frankie, his sister Barbara McGinn, his nephew Jamie McGinn (Kari) and their children, James, Matti, Michael, Maylee and Lucy.

The Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 am on Friday, June 13, 2025 at First Baptist Church- Henry Chapel, 3000 S John Young Pkwy, Orlando, FL 32805 with a reception to follow.
