

LCDR (USN-retired) William Edgar Toeppe (“Bill”) passed on January 4, 2025 from pancreatic cancer. He was born in 1959 in Fremont, Ohio to Edgar and Marina. While Bill grew up in Fremont, his family moved to Cape Coral, Florida where Bill attended high school. After his high school graduation, Bill entered the United States Navy in 1978 at the age of 18. He worked his way through the enlisted ranks for 12 years to E-8 and then joined the Navy’s Limited Duty Officer program. He retired from the U.S. Navy as a Lt. Commander in 2002. Bill proudly served for 24 years in the U.S. Navy and was a Gulf War Veteran.
After his retirement from the U.S. Navy, Bill went back to school and became a cardiac sonographer working for Children’s Health Care of Atlanta, Emory Hospital, and INOVA Fairfax Hospital in Virginia. Bill was a devoted husband, proud father, amazing grandfather and wonderful uncle.
Bill is survived by his loving wife, Myra Murray Toeppe, his mother, Marina Risner (partner David), four children - Melissa Gregorin (Steve), Antonia Ah You (James), William Sergei Toeppe, and James Ruslan Toeppe (Emma). He is also survived by six grandchildren - Josiah, Jonathan, Caroline, Hannah, Caleb and Flora as well as a niece and four nephews (Robert Stow, Nicole Murray Piazza (Andrea), Trey Murray, Jonathan Murray, and Christopher Murray). Bill is predeceased by his father Edgar William Toeppe and step-father Sgt. Major (USMC-retired) Shelby (Gene) Risner.
The family would like to thank all of the people that prayed for Bill during his battle with pancreatic cancer. You made a difference with your prayers and support. Also, the family is thankful to Dr. Leslie Williams, Dr. Ketul Patel, Dr. Mudussara Khan, Dr. Daniel Thomas and the oncology nursing staff at AdventHealth Hospital in Altamonte Springs. They all provided Bill with extraordinary care.
A graveside service with military honors will be held at 11:00 am on Monday, January 27, 2025 at Cape Canaveral National Cemetery, 5525 US Highway 1, Mims, Florida 32754. In lieu of flowers, please thank a veteran for their service because they have sacrificed their lives and health while serving. Like Bill, many battle diseases that occur well past their time in uniform.
