Our beloved mom, oma, sister, tante and friend left us on September 22, 2025, at the age of 95 in her home in Anaheim, California. She passed 35 years and one day after her husband and our father, Karl Sikora. Her family was her whole world. All she wanted to do was cook and bake for everyone. For 95 years she took care of all of us and loved doing it.
Mom was born in Backa Palanka, Yugoslavia, which is now Serbia, in 1930. Her family was forced to leave their German community in 1944 before the Russian invasion. They endured WWII moving from place to place trying to get to the free zones. In 1946 mom’s family finally ended up in Graz, Austria in a displaced person’s camp overseen by the British army where they lived for 5 years. Life was hard and they wanted to get out and get settled, however, as Yugoslavia no longer existed, they had no home to go back to. In 1951, they immigrated to the United States after being sponsored by mom’s cousin. They settled in Cleveland, Ohio where mom met dad. They were married in 1954 and started a family. In 1959, they moved to California first to Garden Grove, then to Anaheim.
In 1966 daddy opened Sikora’s Bakery. Garden Grove was the original location then a second opened in Anaheim. Anaheim eventually became the one remaining location and for over 20 years she helped our father run Sikora’s Bakery. Daddy did the baking, and mom managed the front of the store. Most everyone knew Sikora’s Bakery and enjoyed the delicious baked goods daddy would create. Long after it was closed, we would be contacted by friends and neighbors asking if we had any of the recipes. We all wished we did.
She will be remembered by her son Roy Sikora (Mary) and daughter Renee Tinoco (Carlos); grandchildren Crystal Adams, Kim Cox, Ian Sikora, Karly Dickey, and Mackenzie Sikora; great grandchildren James Cox, Samantha Cox, Owen Adams, Ezra Sikora, and Theo Dickey.
The passing of this amazing women has left an immense hole in our family.
