Blanche Aileen Day was born March 3, 1924 to parents Alvin and Penelope (Nellie) Day in Mexia, (pronounced Ma-HAY-a) Texas. She graduated from high school in Pampa, Texas and this is where she met and married H. N. “Bud” Anderson in 1946. She gave birth to their first son, Jim, while Bud was finishing school at Baylor in Waco, Texas. They moved back to Pampa and then traveled west to Santa Ana, California in the early 1950’s.
Here they had two more children, their son, Terry, born in 1954 and their daughter, Karen in 1959. Blanche always put her family first and she did not resume her career until Karen was in high school. In 1985 Bud and Blanche became grandparents when their daughter Karen gave birth to Heather Marie. Bud passed away in 1993.
In 1995 Blanche’s son Terry presented her with another granddaughter, Temple Day, and this was followed in 1996 with the birth of grandson Boyce, and then grandson Gabriel, who was born in 2000. And Blanche would drive down to babysit whenever she was needed. In the early 2000's Blanche successfully battled breast cancer with the support of her family, and her daughter's advocacy really came in handy. Blanche adored her grandchildren and loved spending time with Heather every day and going to Temple, Boyce and Gabe's performances and sporting events. She loved her family and put them before all else, whatever interest they had, she encouraged. Blanche was a religious gardener and loved nothing more than getting down in the dirt to clean up the weeds.
She loved to wear, make and collect jewelry of all kinds. Blanche was quite creative, a crocheter, she created many beautiful afghans, table coverings for her family. She was a bargain-hunter too, shopping at thrift stores and the Goodwill, where she especially enjoyed "dumb days," when any purchase no matter how odd or "dumb" was OK to bring home. Among her many interests in collecting, were; flower vases, Coca-Cola glasses, FireKing, depression-era glassware, and Fostoria, Oh, ? . . . and shoes.
Blanche leaves behind her children; James (married to Denise Beckwith), Terry (married to Mary Lynn Warren), Karen (married to Charlie Hodge) and her grandchildren: Heather Marie Hooten (daughter of Karen) and Temple, Boyce, and Gabriel Anderson, children of Terry.
