As many of our family and friends may have already heard the news, my Father Calvin “Ray” Shaver passed away Thursday evening January 26, at the age of 94. The last of his own Siblings Dad leaves behind his two Sons Daniel and Larry, Daughter in Law Renee Granddaughter Krystin and Step Grandchildren Michelle, Kyle and Matthew Cruikshank. Dad was Born in 1928 in Seattle Washington and survived his older Brother John, and Sisters ￼ Louolla, Linda and his twin Sister Lillian Mae. Dad and his Twin Sister were talented musicians growing up and performed on a few radio programs in Seattle as kids. Dad played the violin and Lillian played various instruments such as the piano and organ and harp. In 1945 at the age of 17 Dad enlisted in the Marine Corp and served in Hawaii and finished his tour in El Toro California where he met the love of his life and my Mother Doris Mae Riley. They were married in 1949 in Seattle where my Brother Daniel was born and moved to Orange County California in 1953. Dad work for the US Post Office in Seattle and then in Newport Beach California where he retired in 1985 with 41 years including his 3 years of service in the Marines. Dad is also a WWII Veteran as he served at the end of the war. He was assigned a detail to protect Chiang Kai-shek’s residence and personal possessions in China when China went Communist before he fled to Taiwan. Dad was very good at mechanics and electrical and was an aircraft electrician in the Marines and also moonlighted as a T.V. repairman for a few years during the 50’s and 60’s. Dad was very handy at many things and was always happy to help family and friends and his neighbors with just about any projects or repairs they needed help with. He was always generous with his time to help others and on many occasions has opened his home to help family and friends and even friends of friends and family to have a place to stay while they get back on their feet. He will be missed dearly by all lives he touched.

May God give you peace during this time of sorrow. Dad Shaver lived a full life & was a blessing to so many. He is no longer suffering and is united again with his beautiful bride Doris.
