Cathy Marie Cullings of Orange, California passed away in her sleep on April 14, 2022 at the age of 69. At the time of her passing, she had been doing one of the activities she loved to do and was known for—serving others. In this case, she had been caring for her mother in Prescott, Arizona.
Cathy was born in Price, Utah and was the second of nine children. After a few years, her family moved to the Los Angeles, California area, and a few years after that her family relocated to the Salt Lake City, Utah area. As a teenager, her family moved to Orange, California where she attended Orange High School. Cathy met her future husband Carl at the Skate Ranch located in Santa Ana. They married on April 14, 1972 and shortly after purchased a home in Orange, where they lived for the rest of her life.
Cathy was an outgoing and well-loved person. She was known for keeping regular contact with many people through handwritten letters, cards and gifts as well as acts of service. Her letters would also frequently contain photographs, another love of hers. Cathy was a woman of faith, who had a great love for her savior Jesus Christ and for serving in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, especially at the Newport Beach Temple.
In recent years, Cathy enjoyed taking long distance train trips with her husband to various locations in the U.S. and Canada. Cathy also loved to spend time with her children and grandchildren, including taking regular trips to Arizona and Alabama to see some of them. She would go with her grandkids on all the Disney roller coasters, even as recently as last month, and her grandkids would try to keep up with her when she got on a roll shopping for gifts.
Cathy is survived by her husband Carl; her three children Casey (Cindy) Cullings, Tempe, Arizona; Carey Skinner, Yorba Linda; and Christy (Michael) Jones, Calera, Alabama; her six grandchildren Patrick (Claire) Cullings; Ashley Cullings; Sadie Cullings; Aaron Skinner, Tiffany (Jordan) Wagner; and Brittany Skinner; her mother Colleen Fox and four sisters Kim Fritz, Melinda Goodbary, Tammy Trejo and JoLynn Powell. She was preceded in death by her four brothers Geary, Randy, Mike and Scott Powell, her father Allden Powell, her stepfather George Fox and her son-in-law Anthony Skinner.
