Donald Joseph Hobson went to be with the Lord Jesus Christ on November 5, 2022 surrounded by friends and family. He was born in Boston, MA on August 23, 1929 to Joseph and Theresa Hobson, and was the eldest of their three children. After graduating high school, Donald served in the United States Army during the Korean War.
He went on to earn his Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration. He later attended The University of Texas at Austin School of Law. He had an adventurous spirit, loved to travel, and lived in a variety of places including New York City, Dallas, TX, San Francisco, and ultimately made a home for himself in Orange, CA as he loved the climate and cultural offerings of Southern California.
Donald was an older brother, favorite uncle, father of Erica Hobson, and stepfather to her siblings Karin, Peter, and Carol. He knew no strangers, had a giving heart to those in need, and had a rich community of friends and family that he loved to spend time with enjoying a meal out, a sporting event, discussing politics, singing karaoke, or a good cigar. Donald loved cultural events such as concerts at the Hollywood Bowl, classical music, and going to the theater.
Donald was a lifelong Catholic and loved the holy sacraments of the Catholic church. He was a member of the Anglican Church of St. Mary Magdalene, as well as St. John Maron Maronite Catholic Church, both in Orange, CA. He was there for anyone with a need and was especially giving toward family members who may have needed a safe harbor by welcoming them into his home and encouraging many with sage advice.
Donald was a voracious reader, loved talking politics and had a creative sense of humor and could be counted on for a great story or joke, that may or may not have been a bit off color. He will be dearly missed by those who knew and loved him. As he would say: “Love you more.”
