Dottie was born May 21, 1929 to Charles and Elizabeth Harris. A graduate of Shortridge High School 1946, she pursued many interests throughout her life, ones that sought beauty and had deeper meaning. She moved to Southern California in 1947 with her husband Frederick Harnsberger. Her two sons Fritz and Steve were born here. She later married Dale Evans and had two more sons David and Michael. Work took the family to different areas of southern California including Azusa, Covina, Rialto, Poway and finally settling in Orange County for 42 years.. During this time Dottie worked at many places including Drapers of Newport Beach, Rug Crafters, Real Estate, and then later had her own business of dress design and tailoring.
Dottie saw beauty where others did not. She was an inextinguishable light to us. She was always there with love and acceptance and strength. She loved arts and crafts, from dress design, to costume design sculpture and painting, Rug crafting, and croquet, quilting and bridal designs, and costumes: Dottie was able to create it and do it so very well. And she loved the outdoors and dancing at the Elks club. We think of her as dancing now. Our Dottie was an explorer. She challenged us to explore ourselves and the world. She taught us to challenge and express ourselves and laugh. We loved laughing with her. Dottie believe God loved her first, and this is the reason she loved others. We will deeply miss her.
Dottie is survived by her sons Fritz (Lorette) Harnsberger of Santa Barbara, Steven Harnsberger of Fountain Valley, David (Tina) Evans of Atlanta Georgia, and Michael (Tina) Evans of Atlanta Georgia, 7 Grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, and predeceased by her grandchild Cassie McClellan of Medford Oregon.
We are very grateful to Mission Villa of SB for the excellent care Dottie received these last 2 1/2 years.
