Edwin “Ed” Romero Dizon passed away peacefully in the arms of his family on Saturday, July 12, 2025. He is survived by his wife, Adela Dizon; his daughters Jessica Dizon-Scheer and Ashley Dizon; step-children Analy Favila and Jesus Favila; granddaughter Autumn Favila; and brothers Oscar Dizon and Rolan Dizon. He is predeceased by his parents Arsenio and Consuelo Dizon; and brother Daniel Dizon.
Ed was born on February 3, 1963 in the Philippines. As a child, he emigrated to the United States by way of Southern California, where he spent cherished time with his immediate family, cousins, aunts, and uncles.
As a teenager, Ed led an active social life and excelled at many sports and outdoor activities. In high school, Ed played on the school’s basketball, football, and track and field teams. Embracing the SoCal culture around him, he loved cycling, skateboarding, and surfing around the numbered streets in Newport Beach. Ed was also an avid fan of music and enjoyed listening to classic rock and disco. (He even took guitar lessons from a guy named Chuck Berry—but, as he would say with a laugh—not the Chuck Berry!)
Ed eventually moved to South Orange County, where he and his first wife, Davie E. Dizon, raised their daughters, Jessica and Ashley. Much of his time there was spent sharing his favorite activities with his daughters, like fishing, camping, hockey, basketball, tennis, trying new restaurants, and cooking, as well as hosting memorable gatherings for his “barkada” of close friends and cousins.
Ed was blessed with a second family when he married Adela in 2015. He spent the past ten years as a loving step-father and lolo to Analy, Jesus, and Autumn. Having first met at a salsa class, Ed and Adela carried on their love of dancing and enjoyed many evenings at their favorite restaurants and clubs. Ed always took delight in spending precious time with the family, as well as embarking on many adventures around the world with his beloved wife.
Ed took great pride in his professional work and ended his long and successful career as a Quality Engineer in Manufacturing, specializing in O-ring applications. He held a Six Sigma Green Belt Certification in Lean Systems and received recognition for 27 years of service at his most recent company. Close friends and colleagues knew Ed as someone who made people smile. He loved to make everybody laugh with his characteristic jokes and good-natured teasing.
Ed’s legacy leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of everyone who knew him. He will be remembered for his deep love of family, enduring faith in God, and the joy he found in living every moment of life on his own terms, to the fullest.
