Ines passed away at home, with family, peacefully in her sleep. Ines is survived by her children, Jose “Bob” Cilliani (daughter-in-law Shawna), and Elizabeth Winland (son-in-law Joe), grandchildren Caleb,
Amber, Brianna, Gabriella, Alexandra, Daniel and Ayden, and great-grandson Maverick. Ines’ daughter Cindy left us in 2010, and they are now blissfully reunited. Prior to becoming a physician, Ines worked as a school teacher.
Ines earned an MD degree from the National University of Cordoba, Argentina in 1957. She was licensed to practice medicine in multiple states and worked in the specialties of pathology and anesthesia.
She focused the majority of her 50 years practicing medicine in the field of general practice. Dr. Cilliani was one of the earliest female doctors at a time when there were few.
It is interesting that in the conservative times of the late 1950s, in her traditional home town of Cordoba, Argentina, Ines would drive around the city on an unconventional motorcycle, and was known by the people as the lady of the “moto”. She enjoyed reading books, traveling to various countries, attending church, and AA meetings. She was fond of dancing the tango and fox trot, and even won a few dance competitions in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ines spent many hours playing tango and classical music on the piano and was quite proficient at playing challenging compositions by Chopin.
Ines was known as being gregarious and very intelligent person, and her colleagues, nurses, patients and acquaintances speak fondly of having known her. We are blessed to have had her in our lives and look forward to the day when we can join her once again.
