James Edward Wronski was born on September 12, 1947 in New York City, New York, to his father Edward Felix Wronski, and his mother Patricia Alexiades. He was raised along with his younger brothers Peter and Charles (Chuck) in New York until his parents decided to move to a little town in Anaheim, California in 1955. Growing up, James attended schools in the Anaheim Union School District and was known to his friends as Jim. Jim eventually graduated from Magnolia High School on June 16, 1965 and quickly joined the US Airforce.
Jim’s USAF travels took him many places, but the best place was Illinois where he met the love of his life, Linda Lee Lasiter. As Jim was about to complete his military service, he mailed a love letter to Linda in Alaska asking her to marry him. In January 1969, Jim bought Linda a one-way plane ticket to meet him in Florida (where he was stationed at the time) and they were married a few days later in Hillsborough, Florida.
Jim and Linda moved back to Orange, California to start their lives together. In the next few years, Jim was able to attend college at Cal State Fullerton. He had big dreams of learning the law and was accepted to Western State University College of Law, which was located in Fullerton, California. [*Fun Fact* Western State University College of Law is one of the oldest law schools in the nation and Jim helped build the Honor Moot Court in 1979, receiving an Assistant Director certificate and a plaque with his name on it for his service. The law school has since moved to Irvine, but hopefully the plaque can still be seen at its previous location, which is now called “Titan Hall” and owned by Cal State Fullerton.]
Jim and Linda were able to have two beautiful children, Christopher George and Stephanie Anne, in the early 1970s and eventually began their journey as entrepreneurs in several successful local small businesses, such as U.S. Janitorial (a commercial janitorial service) and a home-office hot stamp business. On the side, Jim and Linda had many interests and hobbies such as attending local auctions, collecting coins and antiques, and treasure hunting. In the 1980s, they started a club called West Coast Treasure Hunters (currently still operating as West Coast Prospectors and Treasure Hunters Association), gathering many like-minded people with an interest in gold prospecting and metal detecting.
Jim was most known for his People Movers Recumbent Bicycle business in Orange, CA that started in the early 1990s. He was famous in the world of specialist biking groups. One can Google his name and read many articles written about Jim and Linda during their business ownership. Fans of Jim’s People Movers business were quoted saying that “Jim was an expert that people would travel from other countries get his service, advice and specialty recumbent biking supplies”.
Jim was also very well known for his love of Country, politics and his local community. Jim ran for office locally several times in different political arenas in the 1990s, hoping to help make his community a better place. There were many newspaper articles written about him and his efforts.
Jim was a dedicated and loyal friend to many, but he fiercely loved his family. He was so incredibly in love with his wife Linda and so proud of his children Chris and Stephanie. He supported his children in achieving their career dreams and providing an example of a loving husband for his children to see. Jim was always there for the people he loved and who needed him in advice, support and honesty.
Jim will be truly missed by many. He is survived by his wife Linda; son, Chris; daughter, Stephanie; son in law, Mark; daughter in law, Tiffany; and his three grandchildren, Ava, Adam and Andrew.
A gravesite committal service is scheduled for November 5, 2020 at 1:00 pm at Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Ana, California with Military Honors provided by the U.S. Airforce. To continue Jim’s love of his country and veteran organization, his family is requesting donations to the Disabled American Veterans foundation in lieu of flowers. Click the link below to donate:
