Obituario de Janet Anna Roof
EN EL CUIDADO DE

Fairhaven Memorial Park & Mortuary

Janet Anna Roof, 94, of Villa Park, CA, passed away peacefully and joined Our Heavenly Father on July 26, 2022.

Janet was born on October 12, 1927, in San Francisco, CA, to Delores Williams and Paul Busa. She moved to Southern California and grew up in South Gate, CA with her mother and stepfather, Prescott Williams. Janet attended South Gate High School in the early 1940’s, where she met the love of her life, Wilfred “Bill” Roof. They were married on January 12, 1947. In 2020 the high school sweethearts celebrated 73 years of marriage before Wilfred passed away in April of that year.

After graduating high school, Janet worked in a piano store in Whittier, CA where she was able to use her knowledge as a skilled and beautiful pianist. She enjoyed playing the piano for many years, and friends and family loved listening to her play. Janet then embarked on her greatest and most fulfilling adventure - being a proud and loving mother. She and Bill had two children, Karen born in 1947 and Leslie born in 1951. She relished the role of being a caring housewife, supporting Bill during his career endeavors, and loved entertaining and cooking for her family – especially during the holidays. That was always one of the greatest joys in her life.

Janet had a great love for traveling and seeing the world, and she and Bill – often bringing the entire family – went to such amazing places as New Zealand, Spain, Tahiti, and Egypt. Her favorite destinations were China, Italy, and Hawaii, where she and Bill visited over 70 times. Janet was also a very good golfer, and she enjoyed the sport well into her 70’s. In fact, she shot a hole-in-one in one of the last games she played!

Janet was predeceased by her husband, parents, and her beloved daughter, Leslie. She is survived by her beloved daughter, Karen and her husband Matt Neale, her daughter Leslie's husband William Turner, her five grandchildren, Cristie and her husband Robert Flanigan, Richard Black and his wife Lori, Kari Black, Catharine and her husband Patrick Layton and Billy Turner and his fiancé Tara Pentecost, and her nine great-grandchildren, Strider, Sebastian, Kate, Paige, Benjamin, Asher, Graham, Brennan and Juliet. She was so very proud of her family, and at family gatherings would often look around the room and marvel out loud to Bill “Look at what we made!”

Janet will be interred at Fairhaven Memorial Park in Santa Ana, CA next to her beloved husband.
