Joseph “Joe” Jimenez Aguilar, at the age of 98, passed away peacefully at the loving home and care of Candlewood Manor on April 7, 2018. Joe was born in Winfield, Kansas October 5, 1919, the son of Pablo & Marcelina Aguilar. He is survived by Step Daughters Linda Allen and Alice Medina, sons Richard (Claudette), Louis (Mary Lou), Paul (Tammy), David (Yvette), Daughters Linda Palacios (Dave), Kathy Stevenson (Dave), Christine Estey (Tim), Elizabeth Shelton (Douglas) and his sister Chata Alto and 21 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and 3 great-great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his loving wife Eula of 42 years, brother, Placido and sisters, Rebeca, Louisa, Emilia, Juanita, Eulaila & Antonia.
Joe was a WWII Veteran in the United States Army. He served with the 34th Infantry Regiment Division, 1944 to 1946. Joe served in the Asiatic Pacific Theater United States of Operations stationed in Manila and Tinian, Philippines and served with the occupation forces in Japan, part of Scout 761. He received Combat Infantry Badge, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal, Philippine Liberation Ribbon, Good Conduct Medal and World War II Victory Medal. Joe was Honorably Discharged in January 1946.
Joe was in Construction for 33 years. Also, he was a lifetime member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 12. Joe was able to operate any type of large motorized earth moving equipment. He was a Field Superintendent for J.E. Riley and Sons Construction Company, in Santa Ana, CA and Tri-County Contractors. Joe was a lifetime member of the American Legion.
Joe was a loving humble family man, who enjoyed the simple things. He loved gardening, traveling, road trips, baseball and the Los Angeles Dodgers. He had many friends and family and was loved by everyone.
Visitation for Joe will be held Friday, April 27, 2018 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Rosary at 7:00 pm, at Fairhaven Memorial Park Mortuary, Waverley Chapel, 1702 Fairhaven Avenue, Santa Ana, CA 92705. A funeral service will occur Saturday, April 28, 2018 from 10:00 am to 11:00 am, at Fairhaven Memorial Park Mortuary, Waverley Chapel. A committal to follow from 11:30 am to 12:30 pm at Fairhaven Memorial Park Cemetery.
