Juan was born on March 28, 1937 in Mexico. His spirit is carried on by his children Gilbert Sanchez, Yolanda Edmondson, Veronica Santoyo, 9 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Juan left his native home of Mexico to pursue an education so that he may better his life. While attending English classes he met his future sister in law who introduced him to his wife of 48 years, Yolanda Herrera. They married in 1959 and started their family of 4 children. He was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He loved spending time with his family traveling and camping whenever he had the opportunity. He always made it to all baseball games, soccer games, dance recitals, graduations, promotions, taekwondo and Jiujitsu sessions. He would do everything possible to be around his kids and grandchildren.
He had a passion for his birds. One of his hobbies was raising cockatiels, hand feeding them and taming them. When he moved to Norco, he was given some chickens, that started a new hobby for him. Between himself, his son, daughter and nephew they built a large chicken coop for him to keep his chickens. He loved to tinker around in his shed and was always coming up with gadgets to make his life easier. His family called him “the MacGyver of Grampas”.
Juan was a faithful man, that truly showed what walking in the way of our God meant. He was an inspiration to many people he encountered. His smile was infectious, warm, compassionate and a ray of sunshine. He always made everyone feel special and welcomed.
His family would love to hear your memories of when Juan made you laugh, made an impact on you or left a lasting impression on your life.
