Larry Eugene Barnes

18 diciembre, 1934 – 22 noviembre, 2021
Obituario de Larry Eugene Barnes
EN EL CUIDADO DE

Fairhaven Memorial Park & Mortuary

Larry Eugene Barnes, born Dec. 18, 1934, in Decatur IL, completed his life’s journey on Nov. 22, 2021. He was raised by a single mother in humble surroundings, and never forgot those early beginnings. Larry had vast accomplishments over a nearly 35-year career with Benjamin Moore & Co, beginning as a salesperson in Denver, and retiring in Southern California in a senior leadership position. Everyone who knew Larry experienced his wry smile, wit, customer advocacy, unparalleled loyalty, survival instincts, resilience, personal accountability, and love of life. Some may have simply known him as the neighborhood guy with the leaf blower or water hose, he was many things to many people, and he appreciated his place in your heart. He measured the quality of his life by the quality of his relationships. Known to have a mischievous streak, he was often described as simple though complicated, flawed to some, humorous to others, irreverent, uncompromised, and always unapologetically his own person. Larry readily acknowledged his flaws, however; he had an enormous heart and quiet strengths that were often unknown and underutilized. He is warmly held in the hearts of his friends, family, and everyone who knew him.

Larry lived life to its fullest enjoying every minute with his forever partner, Laura, the love of his life for nearly 44 years. He loved the life he lived and lived the life he loved. Larry had an insatiable wanderlust for travel, and he visited every corner of the world, worked tirelessly, laughed loudly, enjoyed all genres of music, golfer, avid movie enthusiast, and loved all who loved him. Larry did not simply move through the motions of life, he seized it, lived it, and traveled his journey his way.

Larry is survived by his wife, Laura, one surviving son Craig, 4 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter, sister-in-law Linda Spears, as well as nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family. He was predeceased by his sons Jay and Scott. Following his wishes, he will be cremated. In lieu of flowers consider donations to the charity of your choice.
