

Marian was born January 3, 1934 in Wheatland, WY where her Dad and Mom worked on a sheep ranch near Chugwater, WY. She passed into eternity on May 20, 2019 in Orange, CA. Her early years were filled with open ranges and simple life with a love for horses and nature. Her folks moved to Pleasanton, Kansas where they lived and worked a farm. The family moved to California during WW2 where her Dad worked in the Navy shipyard in Long Beach. Marian went to elementary school in Paramount and graduated from Compton High School in 1951. After briefly working as a secretary she married her high school sweetheart, Joe Long in 1953. After Joe graduated from Stanford they settled in Orange County while starting and operating a successful construction business until Joe’s accidental death in 1978. They maintained homes in Huntington Beach and Cowan Heights in Tustin. Marian had 3 children –Danny, David and Lisa. She married Jim Hetrick in 1983, a man she met at church who had lost his wife in an accident; he had 5 children. Together they shared their 8 children, and now have 24 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.
Marian loved the Lord Jesus and was involved in many Church and Christian activities. Her hobbies were gardening, painting and singing. She was a friend to many with a ready smile. Her home was always open for fellowship and gatherings.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, sister Margie, first husband Joe, and son Daniel.
A Celebration of her life will be held at Calvary Church of Santa Ana, 1010 N. Tustin Ave. 11am, Monday June 3, 2019 with a reception following at the church.
