My only cousin. I was the city mouse. She was the country mouse. I only saw her when I was visiting our mutual aunt and uncle. Then we grew up and she went to L.A. where I lived with my mom. Nancy went to nursing school and stayed with us on weekends. We married and I moved to Hawaii. I would stay with her and Kamal when I was coming from or going to Colorado to visit a couple of my daughters. I am sorry I lost contact with her only to learn she had passed away. We had some fun times. She was a good person.

To Cindy and family -
This a remembrance from one only child to another, my only cousin as well. I may have become a nurse much later in life because of her, I don’t know. But Nancy spent her weekends with my mother and me, as a young woman,  while she was in nursing school. Those are fond memories.


Nancy was my only cousin.  She was just 9 months older than me. We were both an only child. She lived in the country and I lived in the city. I would spend my school vacations with a childless uncle and aunt who lived on the adjoining farm. We weren’t close as young children but grew closer as we grew a little older. My mother and I moved from Seattle to Los Angeles when I was 11.  We didn’t really get together again until she enrolled in a nursing program not far from my mom and me. She lived at the dorm and would come stay with us on weekends. That was fun. We each eventually married. She remained in California and my husband, our first child and I moved to Hawaii. My children grew up and a couple of them ended up in Colorado. During 2 or 3 of my trips to see them Nancy and Kamal invited me to stay with them on my way back home. It was so good to see them again. I will always remember nurse Nancy taking care of her rabbits and their garden.  She was a very good cook too. I don’t think I met Cindy more than a few times, first when she was a child and then as an adult maybe. Nancy was so proud of her and her grandchildren.  We used to exchange birthday and Christmas cards and then stopped. I’m not sure why. I had pretty much stopped sending to anyone so it may well be my fault. I have tried to reach her by phone a number of times but never reached her. Cyndy I am sorry you have lost your parents and I feel guilty on my part for losing touch. Love, Kathie
