September 15, 1941 – February 4, 2025
Paul Reed Miles passed away unexpectedly on February 4, 2025, in Irvine, California. He was born on September 15, 1941, in Los Angeles, California, to Frank E. Miles, Jr. and Mary Carmen (Reed) Miles.
Paul graduated from Santa Ana High School in 1960, where he took great pride in earning his Eagle Scout and God and Country awards in Boy Scouts. Following graduation, he served in the Army National Guard, receiving an honorable discharge in 1970. Soon after, he embarked on a 39-year career with Pacific Bell, retiring in 2002.
In 1971, Paul rekindled his romance with his high school sweetheart, Pamela Ludlam. They married shortly after reuniting, and Paul wholeheartedly embraced his role as a father, adopting Pamela’s two children, Julie and Philip, and raising them with love and devotion. The family settled in Fountain Valley, California, where Paul remained until his passing.
After retiring, Paul and Pamela traveled extensively throughout the U.S., Canada, and England, cherishing visits with family and friends along the way. One of their fondest memories was celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary in 2021 with loved ones at the Ebell Club of Anaheim.
Paul was a man of quiet strength, generosity, and humility, always finding ways to serve his community. He dedicated over 50 years as an active member of the Garden Grove Masonic Lodge #351, the Huntington Beach Elks Lodge #1959, Scepter Chapter #163 The Order of Eastern Star in Orange, and the American Legion in Ash Fork, Arizona. A true entertainer at heart, he was also a member of The International Brotherhood of Magicians (IBM), where he honed his craft in magic and delighted many with balloon animals and clowning for over a decade. His passions extended to amateur radio, as a longtime member of the American Radio Relay League, and to marksmanship, as an advocate of the National Rifle Association.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Mary Beth, her husband, Augustus Lee , and their son, Augie Staton; as well as his son-in-law, Patrick Gallagher. He is survived by his beloved wife of 53 years, Pamela Miles; his sister, Ann, and her husband, Roger Maioroff; his daughter, Julie Gallagher, and her late husband, Patrick; and his son, Philip Miles. He is also survived by his cherished grandchildren: Kelly and her husband, Robert Depue; Rory and his wife, Chelsey Gallagher; Megan Gallagher; Ethan Miles; Eric Miles; and Elyse Miles, along with three great-grandchildren, William and Hunter Depue, and River Gallagher; nephew Ed and his wife Eli Staton. Paul leaves behind many other beloved family members and dear friends who will miss him greatly.
At this time, no services are scheduled.
Paul’s legacy of kindness, service, and love will live on in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing him. He was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
