Rod was born on November 6, 1925 in Toledo, Iowa to Raymond and Audrey Westfall.
Rod grew up in Toledo and served in WW II. After service, he attended and graduated from
Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa
Rod was united in marriage to Melvina Dutcher on December 26, 1969. After their
marriage, the family moved from Nebraska to Orange, California where they have lived for the past 51 years
Rod was employed by the Reuben H. Donnelley Corporation. The Donnelley Corporation
was purchased by Dun & Bradstreet and the division was renamed Donnelley Marketing.
He started working for Donnelley in Nevada, Iowa, was transferred to Omaha, Nebraska
and finally to the Fullerton, California office where he was the production manger. His
total length of service with the company was 33 years. The company closed the
Fullerton facility in 1989. When the plant closed, Rod decided it was time for him to retire.
He is survived by his wife, Melvina; daughters, Shelley Westfall and Denise Fisher (Elliott),
sons, Kent (Barb), and Todd (Renee), granddaughters Heather Marts and Nicol Jorgensen, grandson Trent Benninger and 6 great grand children
Preceding him in death were his son, Trent Dutcher, his parents, his sister and brother-in-law Jack and Marilyn Halbert
A family memorial service will be held later in 2021
