Sheryle Brandstetter, born on February 6, 1948, in Whittier, California, passed away on February 8, 2026, at the age of 78. She was the beloved daughter of Gene and Naomi Sweet and their only child. Sheryle spent her formative years in Southern California, enjoying a classic 1950s and 1960s upbringing filled with camping and water skiing adventures throughout the state. She was actively involved in Campfire Girls with her mother, which later became the Girl Scouts.
In her teenage years, around 1967, Sheryle discovered a passion for Polynesian and Hawaiian dancing. Her talent took her from Southern California to Hawaii and on a USO national tour in 1968, where she performed with Hawaiian musicians. She pursued dancing professionally until the mid-1970s, when she embraced married life.
Sheryle shared many happy years of marriage with Michael Kelishes, residing in Huntington Beach, San Juan Capistrano, Mission Viejo, and Dana Point. Together, they raised two children, Chris and Alexandra, born in 1976 and 1980, respectively. The family was active parishioners of St. Luke’s Orthodox Church in Garden Grove, participating in the annual festival throughout the 1970s and 1980s, forming close friendships with other church families.
In 1989, Sheryle embarked on a successful career as a real estate agent in South Orange County, a profession she proudly practiced for 20 years. Many of her closest friendships were formed within the real estate community. In 2008, Sheryle married Steven Brandstetter, and they later moved to Indio, where they enjoyed the desert lifestyle.
Sheryle cherished spending time with friends and family, sharing laughter, cooking delightful meals, wine tasting, and traveling. She instilled in her children the values of enjoying life, not taking themselves too seriously, exploring beyond their neighborhoods, and being responsible adolescents and adults.
Sheryle's vibrant spirit and loving nature will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
