Sunny Montie was born on January 16, 1941, in Turkey and was raised in Iran, where her family owned a Persian rug factory. She was the youngest of seven children, growing up surrounded by a large and loving family.
She met her husband through a family friend, and they were married in 1970. Together, they took a brave leap of faith and immigrated to the United States, settling in Chicago, Illinois. There, they began building their life and family, welcoming their first daughter, Linda, and a few years later, their second daughter, Lisa. Eventually, the family made their way to Southern California, where they continued to grow their roots and create a beautiful life together. Sunny had an incredible work ethic and an entrepreneurial spirit, starting multiple businesses throughout her life. She became a licensed cosmetologist and opened a salon in Orange County. She loved beauty, but most of all, she loved making others feel beautiful. She later joined Boeing, where she built a successful and meaningful career.
She had a natural eye for design and a remarkable talent in the kitchen. Sunny filled every holiday with warmth and love through her exquisite cooking, sharing many dishes with friends and neighbors, and created traditions her family will cherish forever. She took great pride in her garden and found joy in the simple beauty of nurturing life. Sunny was deeply compassionate and dedicated to giving back. She volunteered at a local food pantry and spent countless hours feeding the homeless. She loved animals and had a gentle heart for all living things. She loved playing games with friends, traveling, and was often the first to arrive at the gym in the early morning hours. She was generous, kind, and spoke her mind with honesty and heart. Sunny had a wonderful sense of humor that never failed to bring laughter to those around her. Above all, she treasured every moment spent with her loved ones.
Sunny passed peacefully on March 24, 2026. Sunny is survived by her loving daughters, Linda and Lisa, and her cherished grandchildren, Madyson and Christian.
