This day I surprised you and took you to the cemetery to go see grandma and then we went to 3 different casinos you were so excited  . We had a blast . You told me to take this picture so you can remember how happy you were . We got home at 4:00 am it was a great night . I will always remember us laughing so much on our road trips .  Love and miss you so much mommy .

We would also have movie nights and watch her favorite moviesThe Mummy series and also The Lethal Weapon series. It was luxury living with my grandma because if my mom said I couldn't have something, she was there to give it to me anyways with a huge smile on her face. 
One of my favorite foods that she would make is pretzel salad. We have this at every family holiday party or birthday party. Now if you have not tried her Pretzel salad, you are welcomed at our next family party to get a slice, if theres any left. 

Towards the end of her time, I would go over to my moms house and talk to my grandma about what she's been up to lately, and every time she would respond jokingly “ well not much I cant walk remember?” And we would laugh about it together. Her health problems never got in the way of her sense of humor which would put me at ease because i knew what she was going through was not easy. I was told once by my mom that she did not want anyone to be sad when she passes, she wanted us to remember the good memories and to cherish them with us forever. Now I didn't get the chance to say goodbye and to tell her I loved her, so this is my goodbye and I will love you forever grandma mom.


If you knew my grandma, you know she was full of life and full of unconditional love. She was also full of jokes and had a great sense of humor. Not only was she a strong woman but she was also sympathetic and warm hearted. She's taught me that just a smile or a few kind words can truly make someone's day. She  always made sure her grandkids were taken care of and she also made sure that we knew she loved us. There was not a time I saw her where she never told me she loved me, and that was the thing I will carry with me until I pass, is that I was truly loved and cared for by my grandma. 

My grandma mom was many things, but there was one thing she wasn't, and that was scared. She was never scared to speak up for herself or to speak her mind. She was just as fierce as she was loving. She was a savvy business woman, she owned Syvlias wigs and many of you know it as “the shop” 

Some of my best memories growing up were with my grandma mom. A big part of my childhood was Sylvias Wigs, which we called the shop. You  know,  I would even pretend to be sick just to hang with the Big 3. If you dont know, the big 3 was my Great Grandma ALice, Grandma Mom and of course my beautiful mom Darlene. Us kids would give her a hard time there, she would always yell at us for wearing the durags that we supposed to be sold, but she would forgive us because she also thought it was funny. 
And that was her, she would scold you and then tell you she loved you right after. 
Living with my grandma i got to spend an abundance of time with her. We would stay up super late watching all of her favorite shows together which were CSI, Law and Order or Criminal Minds. We used to joke around a lot and say to each other that if push came to shove, we would know how to hide a body.  We would critic every felon on the show because we would know how to get away with it better. And that was me at 10 years old watching these shows with her. 

Keanu misses you so much. My mom went to visit you and as they were leaving Keanu ran toward your area of rest and gave you a big hug goodbye. We miss you so much grandma mom. 

This picture would be one of are last one’s  together . I am so heartbroken and numb . I miss you so much mommy .  I’m trying to stay strong but it’s not easy .  Love you always .

Im going to miss you calling me to your room to look for your glasses only to find out after the beds have been moved, and the rest of the house has been searched, you yelling from your room you found them, only to find out they where hanging on your chest or resting on top of your head. I’m going to miss watching your favorite tv show csi and watching for the 1000 time all the lethal weapons. Mom loved to watched movies. “Movie night with mom “ If u seen the movie before, she would talk the whole movie asking what happens next and want the ending was before the movie was over, and she would still watch the movie and be shocked when everything happen.   And in all seriousness still say I can’t believe that happen. Mom loved all of her grandchildren. She could be in the worst of pain, to where she couldn’t move but would always want her grandchildren laying on her or trying to pick them up when they where in her presence.  Mom had the best smile and could light up the room with it. Mom in many ways was like grandma Alice. Mom always made the best of things and situations. Even tho it’s  very painful to me she’s not here no more, it’s a sense of relief she’s no longer in and out of the hospitals and recovery homes, and no longer suffering and in pain. She is at peace. Ones lost is another’s gain, we may have lost her here, but grandma Alice and Tio Manuel have her now. You will forever be in my heart. I love you mom. …

First grand son Aj speech 

Hello everyone, thank you for coming. most of you know me, for those of you that don’t know me I’m AJ Moms favorite I mean first grandson. I called her mom and so did most of her grandchildren or grandma mom. She never like me to call her grandma and I can’t remember a time I even called her grandma, it was mom since I could  first remember, and I was her Mijo. But as time went on and she got older, I became a lot of names. When she would call for me I became Joseph Ryan Desiree you AJ. And as time went on even further even when she did say my name it continued on. She would say Crystal I mean Joseph Jaythan AJ Ryan you know who I’m talking to. Me and Emilia did everything for mom. We were the go to for everything she needed help with when we were living down here. I didn’t mind taking her where she wanted, or fixing things that needed to be fixed and Amelia didn’t mind doing what was asked from her. She was always there for me right or wrong and if I called And needed help it, she was there. Over the past couple years, medically, it took a tuff toll on mom. It was the little things we take for granted In life like being able just to get out the house, or even walk. She was the strongest woman I knew. I don’t think anyone could live a day in her shoes and she did it for years. I’m so glad I was able to come down a couple months ago and spend my birthday with her. We had a big deep personal talk when I was down here,,.She asked me: since I’m not religious what do I think happens when we die. I told her something I heard before and I know to be true, I told her, I know when we die, the ones that loved us will miss us.  She smiled and said “ I like that” And mom you missed by many. **if In fact there is “nothing” after death/ Nothingness itself can’t last for ever, life always finds a way to commence.  I’m going to miss the New Years party’s we would have with root beer floats and spaghetti with weenies.

I have many memories of my Aunt Sylvia aka Aunt Silver:)  When we were little we would spend the night at her house and we were always so excited because in typical Auntie fashion she let us eat all the candy we wanted.  She was always happy and fun to be with and she of course had the Ramirez sense of humor which is priceless.:)   Our first stop for Dinner would be Bob's Big Boy!  Aunt Sylvia always loved kids and I'm so happy that she had so many grandchildren.  I love you Auntie  and you will never be forgotten.  Rest in Peace until we meet again. Love Kristie

Thank you Mama Silvia for always treating me like one of your own over the last 38 years and never holding against me all the crazy antics Darlene & I got into since middle school.  Although, you did ground me once and put me to work at the wig shop, you never shut your home to me. You taught me about family bonding, being strong willed as well as  wigs, makeup and eyelashes.  I am forever grateful to you for being a huge part of my growing up and for all the cherished memories.  Love & miss you.  May you Rest in Paradise.  - Erika

The very last photo we all four took together before my family and I left for Washington in 2018. It was so hard leaving you both. We love you. 

During a October pumpkin patch, we all went before we moved away to Washington. You had such a great time.

I remember my aunt Sylvia would make the best brownies ever! When my family and I would go over to visit she would have a bag full of brownies. So many memories I have of her, each time I think back to my childhood she comes up in my mind.

Your other great grand daughter Catarina Magana. She used to always run up to grab your cane for you. She said you always gave her candy. Which she loved of course. You were such an amazing grandma to our girls.

So greatful your great grand daughter was able to know you. She loves and misses you ! 

Your first grandsons wedding. We couldn’t and wouldn’t get married without the both of you present. So glad we got to experience that memory with you and grandma Alice.

Sylvia, Crystal, Mom, and Yolie at Aliso Creek, in Laguna Beach California. She had an amazing day with all of her grandkids, and other family members. August 8, 2014. It was the perfect day! We packed lunches and spent all day there. 

July 17, 2019. Samantha and I made capirotada and you gave your approval. You were so happy because it turned out as good as Mom’s. As it should have since Mom was supervising us while we were making it. Great memories!
