Bruce Emile Gaviglio

A loving father, husband, loyal friend and a dreamer, Bruce left this earth way too soon on June 25, 2014. Born on February 17, 1945, to Mario and Lillian Gaviglio in San Francisco, CA. He graduated from Junipero Serra High School, San Mateo, CA, in 1963 and San Jose State University in 1972 with a Bachelor and Master’s Degree. He served with the US Air Force; became Sergeant. He was in Vietnam for Tet New Year in 1968. His life’s work was as a civil engineer with a specialty in geotechnical design. His career in the Bayarea spanned four and half decades. Bruce was in the process of fulfilling one of his life’s dreams—the building of the dream house. Bruce is survived by his wife Kay Gaviglio, his four daughters and a son, Casey Gaviglio, Kym Gaviglio-Gering, son-in-law Jonathan Gering, Belinda Bengel and son-in-law David Bengel, Karla Schaffner and son-in-law Karl Schaffner, Brendan Gaviglio, along with five grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother Glen Gaviglio and sister-in-law Ann Gaviglio. Bruce will truly be missed. His memorial will be held on August 26, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at Lima Family Santa Clara Mortuary, 466 North Winchester Blvd., Santa Clara, CA 95050. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Meals On Wheels in memory of Bruce.
